The Forge: On Location from Visual Literacy 2013

This year, we tried something we’ve never done before. Okay, that’s not so unusual. We’re always trying new things. However, this time, we asked our friends at The Forge (a TechSmith production) to record their upcoming video blog from the event. Where else could we find a bunch of amazing visualization experts all in one place? So, we decided to do two segments…a panel and an interview. The panel was given the topic “Paper vs. Online”. Coming squarely down in Paper was Brandy Agerbeck, Karl Gude held strongly to Online, and Jamie Nast took the middle ground. The whole thing was expertly moderated by Matt Pierce, host of The Forge. That was then followed up by an interview with Ryan Coleman on visual brainstorming.

2013 Conference Schedule Released

The official 2013 Visual Thinking & Literacy conference schedule has just been released, so you can begin to make the difficult decisions of which sessions you want to attend. If you haven’t registered yet, there are just 5 days left to register online, so register soon!

Every event, we get asked…”Why do you make the choices so hard?”. Well, we take that as a compliment. That means we’ve done our job to select amazing facilitators with topics that are of interest to the audience. Yes, the decisions will be hard. If you bring your friends or make new ones at the event, maybe you divide and conquer and teach each other after the event.

The always wonderful Jamie Nast, who is also a facilitator this year, used her expert skills to once again create a idea/mind map of the conference schedule. So, not only can you learn how to do this at the event, you can use the technique to explore the event schedule:

Conference Hotel Discounts Announced

We’ve been working hard to make the conference the most value for your money including amazing facilitators, lots of networking opportunities, a very low conference fee, and, now, a great deal on hotel for those people coming in from out of town! Registration for the 2013 Visual Literacy Conference is now open! We’ll be having lots of great announcements in the coming month, but quite a few people have been asking when they can sign up so we wanted to get registration open as soon as possible. For those corporate types who have some budget to spend before the end of the year, sending your people to help them learn how to think and communicate more effectively is a great way to spend a small amount of money.
